Description
This page presents star maps that illustrate Lacaille's star catalog from Coelum Australe Stelliferum (the previous page has explanations). The general features of the maps are described on the historical catalogs page.
The maps show all the catalog entries in the equatorial and ecliptic coordinate systems corresponding to the catalog's equinox January 1st, 1750 (ad annum 1750 ineuntem) of the Gregorian Calendar. For reference, they also show all the stars up to magnitude 8.0 from the Hipparcos and SAO catalogs (reduced to the 1750 epoch and equinox for proper motion and precession), as well as a few fainter stars that may be matches for fainter catalog entries.
The stars are labeled with their catalog numbers (CA numbers, in a very small font) and the Greek or Latin letter assigned by Lacaille in [CA], if any. The letter assignments take into account a few corrections, described in more detail in the file lac_notes.dat, according to the following table. In these cases, the star and the label are drawn in red.

Planisphere
The first map represents the whole sky south of the tropic of Capricorn, similarly to the planispheres found at the end of [CA] and [EA] which represent only the brightest lettered stars but show the constellation figures (a nice high definition reproduction of the one in [CA] can be found here).
